Module Description

This module walks you through the process of installing two widely-used website content management tools, WordPress and Omeka, on your own machine so that you can have a sandbox for learning how to use either or maintain a development instance of a website locally.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this module you should

1. Understand what a content management system is
2. Understand the difference between WordPress and Omeka as content management systems
3. Be able to install a web development stack (MAMP) on your local machine
4. Understand how WordPress and Omeka use PHP and database software to create dynamic web content
5. Be able to install and update WordPress and Omeka for local development on your own machine
