A Short History of Douglass Day
Jim Casey, Assistant Professor of African American Studies, History, and English at Penn State, and Associate Director of Penn State’s Center for Black Digital Research, is also the founding director of Douglass Day. In the short video below, he gives a quick introduction to the birth and subsequent history of a day dedicated to celebrating Frederick Douglass’s birth, the achievements of Black Americans, and the issues and challenges that remain in the quest for a just and equitable society.
